I used to go to my local free anime convention/expo and think "Man, these are my people."

It was this weekend and I went on saturday and all I could think was that I was wading through the dregs of nerd society.

A friend tells me that it just means I'm growing up.

I still love cartoons and anime and games and geeking out and all that, but there's just such a high level of juvenility at this con that it hurts me. Sometimes physically (people really should watch where they're going).

There's only so much geekery I can stand before it gets to be too much. I much prefer quiet, reflective geekery. The kind where there aren't a million fan boys and girls squee-ing at every little thing.

The day wasn't a total wash. While I still haven't found an appropriately awesome poster/ wall scroll for my room yet, I did feed my love of keychains again. I got a couple of Gurren Lagaan key chains and cell phone charms. There were four of each and had they not been so expensive I'd have bought them all. As it is I settled on a metal Kamina and Yoko cell charms, and a pvc Yoko and a metal Simon/coredrill/logo combo keychains. My keys are awesomer now.
